Generally by springtime, paint manufacturers forecast the next year’s colour trends. For many of them, the colour of the year 2024 will be blue (Sherwin-Williams, Dunn-Edwards, Valspar, Minwax, etc). However, from all the hues of blue presented, Blue Nova was our preferred one. This is a beautiful blue-violet from Benjamin Moore, which illustrates today’s mood board.

This intense colour reminds me of the beautiful tones of blue from Azul Bahia, a rare granite from my homeland, Brazil. When using this beautiful stone on the floor or the benchtop, you may want to go with Kit Kat tiles in bluish-grey for the walls. Or, alternatively, a satin white tile instead, which goes well with blues.

For the basin and the freestanding bathtub, we suggest gloss-white pieces with a tapered shape. The vanity may be a wall-hung unity with drawers. The handles are in brushed nickel, the same colour chosen for the tapware and accessories. To complement the look, a pill-shaped mirror with a satin finish frame. If you never considered an orange bathroom, you should think twice. This colour can definitely bring a boost of energy and joy to your day! However, the secret is using orange as an accent colour, matching it with the right hues. In this mood board, we opted for different tones of grey for a more contemporary atmosphere.

For example, you may have a feature wall with orange mosaic tiles, combined with a concrete-look basin and freestanding bath. Or, you may prefer accessories in bright tangerine, such as the towel rails in acrylic and the mirror from Laufen, which go well with encaustic tiles in different tones of grey. Either way, the outcome will be vibrant and joyful.

For the tapware, you can go with brushed nickel, opting for models with a more futuristic design. Alternatively, you may prefer chrome, such as in this mood board here, which will also provide a good match. Finishing the selection, cement-look tiles on the floor, in a light neutral colour.

Not all terrazzo tiles are the same. Especially when made with a unique combination of tones that tie together other elements of the project. In this case, we opted for a terrazzo tile in sandy colours from Fibonacci, showcasing a combination of warm greys and notes of caramel. However, terrazzo tiles allow for many other combinations. You may find another project where we used terrazzo with grey tones here and here for example.

On the walls, we chose off-white 3D tiles in a gloss finish. They contrast with the tapware in brushed nickel, adding a touch of contemporaneity. Aiming to bring a warm atmosphere, we suggest light oak timber for the cabinetry and other objects, such as stools and shaving mirror cabinets. Shaving mirror cabinets, by the way, are excellent ways to maximize storage and add sophistication to your bathroom.

To complement the look, opt for objects made of clay ceramic in sandy tones, such as the vessel basin and the wall sconce from Robert Gordon. Also, allow for plant pots and other decorative elements in ceramic or terrazzo, which will add to the look.
