Colour of the year 2024

Generally by springtime, paint manufacturers forecast the next year’s colour trends. For many of them, the colour of the year 2024 will be blue (Sherwin-Williams, Dunn-Edwards, Valspar, Minwax, etc). However, from all the hues of blue presented, Blue Nova was our preferred one. This is a beautiful blue-violet from Benjamin Moore, which illustrates today’s mood board.

This intense colour reminds me of the beautiful tones of blue from Azul Bahia, a rare granite from my homeland, Brazil. When using this beautiful stone on the floor or the benchtop, you may want to go with Kit Kat tiles in bluish-grey for the walls. Or, alternatively, a satin white tile instead, which goes well with blues.

For the basin and the freestanding bathtub, we suggest gloss-white pieces with a tapered shape. The vanity may be a wall-hung unity with drawers. The handles are in brushed nickel, the same colour chosen for the tapware and accessories. To complement the look, a pill-shaped mirror with a satin finish frame. Get home and relax

At the end of the day, we just want to get home and relax, either soaking in a bath or under a nice waterfall shower. If you have the right colour in your bathroom, the experience is even more enjoyable! Sage green is perfect to create the feeling of relaxation, be it on the fishscale tiles, the freestanding bathtub or the cabinetry.

This colour goes along very well with whites and light greys, creating the perfect environment for relaxation. So you won’t go wrong if you mix this earthy greyish tone of green with a light cement-look floor tile. Or, alternatively, with a white-washed timber tone.

To complement the look, we suggest round basins in matte white, the same material as for the vanity countertop. Regarding accessories, we suggest brushed gold, such as a round mirror and a pendant wall light. For the tapware, wall taps and mixers would follow the same colour scheme.

In saying that, golden accessories offer a perfect match with many other colours, as you may see in other mood boards (here and here).

Encaustic tiles in navy blue complement the look, matching the vanity with shaker panels from Timberline.

On the wall, either wallpaper with a marine theme or the tongue and groove panel in satin white. Aiming to add some glamour? The wall sconce and the tapware in gold are the perfect choice.
